That is precisely why we are delighted to welcome you to the VII World Physiotherapy South America region conference and the VII Uruguayan Physiotherapy Congress. It will be the meeting point where Uruguay opens its doors to colleagues from the region and, of course, we hope to have a significant presence of national colleagues. Abstracts were invited that: Whilst abstracts are invited on all topics across physiotherapy practice, education and research, abstracts in the field of innovation and technology are of particular interest to the scientific committee (SC). Abstracts are presented either as a platform or a printed poster presentation. All presenters are required to attend the conference in person. Each platform presentation is scheduled for 10 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions. Authors have a designated presentation time during the lunch break onsite for discussion with participants. The area available to display printed posters will limit the number of printed posters that can be accommodated. **The decision of what format to assign to any** **abstract rests with the SC.** Submitted abstracts will go through a blind peer-review process carried out by international reviewers. The loss of muscle power occurs to a greater extent than that of strength, constituting an early marker of functional decline and a predictor of risk for falls and disability (Reid & Fielding, 2012; Skelton et al., 2019). In this context, it is essential to incorporate therapeutic exercise programmes aimed at developing muscle power and motor control within appropriate safety limits, avoiding joint overload and promoting a controlled, gradual, and functionally adapted technical execution. Provide practical tools to assess, plan and prescribe lower limb strength and power training programmes, aimed at functional improvement, fall prevention and the promotion of active and healthy ageing.
